Counselling Relationship

As an integrative therapist, my practice combines a person-centred philosophy with attachment and developmental theories. I believe in the innate value of the individual, and that within each person lies the wisdom and resources to resolve their own difficulties.

In our imperfect world, sadly our fundamental human needs for love and meaningful relationships are often met insufficiently or not at all. We may suffer upsetting or traumatic experiences through life. Over time this can cause us to adapt and move away from our innate sense of self and perceptions of life in order to meet these needs and survive, yet we may end up losing our sense of who we are and what life means for us.

Through the experience of a counselling relationship that offers respect, acceptance and empathy, the individual is given the freedom to explore issues that are important or worrying for him or her. Through this the individual can develop a greater awareness of him/herself and understanding of their situation and past, increasing their capacity to make choices about what he/she wants from life, and inner healing from emotional and psychological pain.
